Want to be with your friend?

Posted on 13. Jul, 2011 by lisa.

Creative Escape is about being with the people you enjoy spending time with! That is why you need to log into www.eventbrite.com and pick a group. There are now 7 to choose from, so find out which one your friends want to be in and have them log in and select the same group.

You can always go back and change your mind as long as space is available. Remember, every guest is taught by every teacher. You will make every single project available. The group you are in is only important if you want to be in the same classroom as your friend. If you don’t pick a group, we will pick it for you on August 11.

Friday Night Extravaganza Sneak Peek

Sponsored by Canvas Corp.

Friday Night Extravaganza is a mystery project, but I am going to give you a sneak peek. This year, the project is designed by Sonya Bookout and it is something you will want to feature in your home every October.

Each year the highly trained, highly qualified Bazzill staff and friends sing and dance their way through the evening while teaching you everything you need to know in order to finish this project in two hours or less. Be warned! This project will not be finished in class… we will get you started on the background, show you all the pieces you need to stamp with the cute white ink and Tim Holtz stamps, and start you punching. After that, you are welcome to head over to the Echo Park Swap Crop Room to finish it up, take it back to your room, or finish it at home. You are sure to be sleepy by the end of your first busy day so we won’t keep you… promise!

Supplies to bring to class:

Paper Trimmer

Scissors

Ruler

Black Marker – Sharpie

Extra Strong Glue (Glossy Accents, Fabri Tak, Red Tape, E6000)

Dry Adhesive

1/2″ circle punch (important!)

Chalk Pen (optional)

Piercing tool

Thanks again to Canvas Corp. for sponsoring the project. We love it!

Janet Hopkins’ project is creative, fun, and makes you feel like you are playing in your very own little doll house. There are tables to decorate, outfits to make, and wood to stain! There is so much to do in such a small space, but Janet shows you how to make magic happen right before your eyes. The question will be, “Can I bear to give this one away?”

Photo requirements – Mandatory!

Posted on 04. Jul, 2011 by lisa.

You only need to bring photos to one class this year. So this is going to be a cinch…

Ali Edwards is asking you to bring five photos featuring things/people/events in your life that evoke special memories. The photos do not need to be related in any way. You MUST have these photos to do this project. You can’t add them in later.

So, please bring five, 8×10, horizontal (landscape), color or black and white photos. This is the important part: THE SUBJECT MUST BE TO THE RIGHT OF THE IMAGE. You should not have anything on the left that will mind being cut and have a spiral through it.

Check out the example Ali gave us. Notice how the photos line up in comparison to the wire binding on the left.

There are many ways to manipulate photos into this format. For instance, you can flip your photo. I did this for Preview Day and it worked great… except if you look really closely you will see that my son’s Mariners hat has a backward S on it. So far, no one has noticed but me.

While at Preview Day many people mentioned they ordered their photos on line at places like Walgreens, CVS, Walmart, Costco, Sam’s Club, etc. If you do it far enough in advance you could even use Snapfish, etc. The warehouse stores seemed to have better pricing for those who planned ahead. For those who didn’t (me!) CVS can make it happen in an hour. So do a little research before you need to print your photos. You can also print them at home if you have some photo paper and a great printer.

To answer a few questions you may have…

1. Yes, rolling totes are fine.
2. No, you don’t need your tote during the Bazaar on Thursday, or anytime on Thursday. Keep your hands free for fun times, projects and giveaways.
3. Yes, you will need supplies for the Friday Night Extravaganza. If you don’t want to lug your tote, just pack what you need. The supply list will be included in the CE Idea Book you pick up at registration.
4. If it is listed as optional it is your choice to bring it. Generally there will be a few class sets if you are willing to wait a turn. If you are traveling with a group, just have one person in the group pack it.
5. If it says must-have, we aren’t kidding. You will be so sad if you don’t have one of your very own. Your productivity may come to a grinding halt. But we can always direct you down the hall to the store.
6. Double-sided, extra strong tape could mean: Tacky Tape or Red Line,
7. Dry adhesive could mean: Tombow, Xyron, 3L Scrapbook Adhesives, Glue Arts, or Scotch.
8. Wet adhesive could mean: Glossy Accents, Mono Liquid Glue, Fabri-Tak, or Zip Dry.

Hate being squished?

Posted on 30. Jun, 2011 by lisa.

Each classroom at Creative Escape holds 80 guests… MAX. The Tattered Angels group is now full. All 80 spots are completely filled and you can’t squish one more person inside.

So….

If you are in the Tattered Angels group and like spreading out your supplies, taking up more than your fair share of space, or just like things a little slower, quieter or more intimate – you can get out of the Tattered Angels group and pick another one. Some aren’t even half full yet so you can take your pick.

To make a change, all you need to do is go to Eventbrite, log in to your account with your email or password.
Click on the event and there are three little areas underneath the Creative Escape header – “share”, “manage”, and “event details”.
Click “manage”.
A new window will pop up with all the preferences. Look toward the bottom for “group.”
Click group and make your change. If it is available it will be in black. If it is full, it will be gray.

Or, if you still can’t figure it out Melissa says she will help you. Just email her.
