The excitement of Technique is a great way to get the weekend started. There is so much to see, do, and get — that you don’t want to miss a minute of it. So don’t plan anything else. Don’t be late. Schedule your travel time accordingly. This Technique Boutique really is mandatory.
After Preview Day we realized we need to give you more time to learn some very important techniques and tools. We will be handing out portions of each kit in advance so you can get the prep work done. You will be majorly disappointed if you miss out, not to mention really behind. Plan to spend a minimum of 3 hours at the event.
Registration – Noon to 3 p.m.
Technique Boutique – Noon to 5 p.m.
Meet the Teachers Trunk Show – 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Creative Escape Opening Presentation – 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
A no-host light lunch station with salads, sandwiches, beverages, etc., is available in the Technique Boutique room from noon to 2:30 p.m.

Margie Romney Aslett wasn’t able to join us for Preview Day this year, so she flew to Arizona to teach her class last week. Oh, what fun! She calls this project her “inspiration piece.” We loved it. The funniest part of Margie’s visit revealed itself when she asked all of her students to bring (shown top to bottom): wire cutters, flat nose pliers, and round nose pliers. These are all MUST-HAVES in order to complete the project. You should have seen what the girls were digging out of their tote bags! We saw a pair of garden shears and a wrench… and that was only the beginning. We all agreed, we need to share photos of the tools in the Creative Escape blog in order to help our guests! Please look at these tools carefully. If you don’t have your own tools, these three pieces are from Scarlet Lime and will be available for purchase from the Creative Escape on-site store the middle of this month. You can order and pay in advance and we will have them ready for you to pick up anytime after 9 a.m. on Thursday, the first day of Creative Escape.

Design a Halloween Trick or Treat Bag and you could win some not-so-scary stuff from Provo Craft! Bring your creatively, innovative bag (made with Bazzill and Provo Carft products, of course!) to Creative Escape before midnight, Thursday, August 26. Fill out an entry form and your treat bag will be judged and on display in the Provo Craft Swap Room throughout the event.
The first place winner gets first pick of the prizes, second place gets second pick, and third gets the last goody. The Creative Escape staff will judge the winner. Each creation can be pick up by its designer on Saturday so it can be taken home and used while you scour the neighborhood looking for the house giving away full-size candy bars.
Susan says she can’t wait to see what spooky things you come up with! Have questions, email: susan@creativeescapeaz.com

1. Get to the bus stop 15 minutes before the bus leaves.
2. The bus leaves on time…. with or without you.
3. The bus loads downstairs in the convention area. Walk all the waaaaaayyyyy down to the end. You will pass the store.
4. Be sure to check in with your bus hostess. She will find your name on the list and greet you with a big, smiley “hello!”
5. Be ready to play a game or two along the way. Bazzill and Provo Craft prizes will be awarded!
6. Keep your arms and legs in the windows. Too hot! Provo Craft will help cool you down with a little surprise or two.
7. There is plenty of storage under the bus for all your purchases, so don’t be shy. Buy what you want, not what you need. What happens at CE stays at CE.
8. We will feed you along the way and we have plenty of water. If you need a soda, bring it along.
9. The bus has air conditioning and a place to pee.
10. If you fall asleep on the bus we can’t be responsible for what other CE friends will do to you. Remember, they may have access to something permanent and acid-free. They are scrapbookers for heaven’s sake… you could wake up with a drawn-on mustache. Photos are sure to be involved as well. Just sayin’.

We offered this tip last year and it was HUGE hit, so we are spreading the word again. BRING YOUR RETURN ADDRESS LABELS… LOTS OF THEM. Just for attending Creative Escape, we will give you 10 raffle tickets to win fabulous prizes from our sponsors. If you shop in the on-site store you will get one more ticket for every $25 you spend (even if you pre-order merchandise!). You can help us raise money for the leukemia and lymphoma association by buying tickets to win a Scrap Map cruise. Plus, you can buy raffle tickets to win one of the custom ***** (I can’t tell you yet) that teachers past and present designed to raffle/auction during the event. All proceeds for that one go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Association, too.
Bottom line… bring your return address labels if you don’t want to write your name on the back of tickets over and over and over and over. Just a suggestion!
